FDO Reader for MicroStation CONNECT
An updated version of FDO Reader for MicroStation CONNECT is available!
FDO Reader is the easiest way to get spatial data into MicroStation. FDO Reader is based on the open API Feature Data Objects which also includes providers for most spatial data sources. These providers handles data from Oracle, SQL Server, PostGIS, Shape, MySQL, WFS, Excel and more.
Most engineering projects depends on information from many different sub contractors. This means many different data formats. GIS data are often handled by a separate department, even when there is no need for analysis or additional processing. Would it not be great if you could access that GIS data directly from MicroStation? With FDO Reader data can be loaded to reference files which protects the active file and makes it easy to safely browse different data sources.
FDO Reader is also an ideal solution for mixed environments where some other software is used for maintaining map data and MicroStation users need quick and easy access to data for further processing or as background data.
MicroStation CONNECT has a lot of nice features when it comes to utilizing property data. Item Types makes it possible to analyze, report and search information based on element properties. FDO Reader will import spatial attributes as Item Types which makes it possible to use all these new features. This video shows how attributes are imported and used in MicroStation CONNECT.
What about Bentley Map?
FDO Reader is not a replacement for Bentley Map. Bentley Map is an advanced software for GIS-analyze, networking, creating thematic maps and buildning standalone editing solutions. FDO Reader is a quick and easy way to get spatial data into MicroStation.
Coming up next is a Reader/Writer version where it will be possible to write data back to the data sources. The following video shows how data can be read and posted back to several data sources simultanously. Quite nice!
Look out for more info!
