Genom att använda FDO Reader har projektering och andra verksamheter kunnat arbeta vidare i MicroStation eftersom FDO Reader gjort kartdata åtkomliga direkt från ajourhållningsdatabaserna. Först användes Oracle av GeoMedia och nu används SQL Server av GEOSECMA. Genom att använda FDO Reader i MicroStation kan man hämta och formatera olika kartprodukter över valfria områden utan att vara beroende av statiska exporter. Genom att definiera olika kartprodukter kan man dessutom hämta ut och formatera baskartor, ledningskartor och planunderlag från samma underlag.

Nu har Sundbyberg även växlat över till MicroStation CONNECT där FDO Reader fortsätter att fungera precis som tidigare. Denna version gör det även möjligt att skapa 3D-kuber direkt från byggnadsytor förutsatt att man registrerat byggnadshöjd.

TRVADM

För att göra det möjligt att fortsätta att arbeta med BVADM-baserade projekt även efter övergången till MicroStation CONNECT (BVADM finns bara för MicroStation v8i) har vi tillsammans med Berell IT AB utvecklat en ny version kallad TRVADM vilken kan köras tillsammans med CONNECT-versionerna av MicroStation, OpenRail Designer, OpenRoad Designer och PowerDraft.

TRVADM är helt kompatibel med existerande BVADM-projekt och kan utan modifiering av BVADM-strukturen användas parallellt med MicroStation v8i och BVADM.

All befintlig funktionalitet finns i den nya versionen och man kan enkelt aktivera sina existerande projekt så de blir tillgängliga i TRVADM och MicroStation CONNECT. TRVADM har ingen Windowsdel utan är helt integrerad med MicroStation.

Gröning för Signalritningar

Det finns även en modul med grundläggande verktyg för gröning och utskrift av signalritningar.

The use of Item Types, together with several new tools to manage, report and handle these data, makes it more interesting than ever to get  attribute information into MicroStation. With MicroStation FDO Reader which is available for both MicroStation V8i and MicroStation CONNECT, you can import geometries and attributes from a large number of different data sources. Since MicroStation CONNECT can set element symbology based on their attributes via so-called Display Rules (Swedish article), it is possible to import data without any additional formatting except Display Rules. You could e.q.  load borehole data from Excel, PostGIS, Oracle, Shape or several other data sources and display them in the same way as long as they have a common attribute (dimension, depth, year etc).

The following images shows some examples of data that has been read straight into MicroStation CONNECT using MicroStation FDO Reader without any formatting other that Display Rules.

If you want to do more advanced formatting like annotation, place cells based on attributes, MicroStation FDO Reader could handle that as well but the purpose of this article is to focus on the capabilities in MicroStation CONNECT.
